How to respond to negative feedback about your business or products

Introduction

In this article, we’ll talk about how to deal with negative feedback.

Negative feedback can come in many different forms. It can come from a customer, a friend, a colleague, a family member, or even a stranger. It could be something as simple as a bad review on a review site, or it could be a comment on a social media post. It doesn’t matter where it comes from, the only thing that matters is how you deal with it.

This article will cover the following topics:

1. What is negative feedback?

2. How to deal when you get negative feedback

3. What to do when you don’t get positive feedback

4. What not to do

What is Negative Feedback?

When we talk about negative feedback, we’re talking about feedback that is negative in nature. This could be anything from a negative review, to a negative comment, to even a negative response to a question you’ve asked on social media.

How to Deal When You Get Negative Feedback

The first thing you need to do is to acknowledge that you’ve received the feedback. This is the most important thing you can do. If you ignore the feedback, you won’t be able to learn anything from it, and you’ll just end up making the same mistakes over and over again.

What to Do When You Don’t Get Positive Feedback

The second thing you should do is take a step back and think about why you didn’t get the positive feedback in the first place. Was it because you did something wrong? Or was it because the person who gave you the feedback didn’t know what they were talking about?

If it’s the former, then you should try to figure out what you did wrong, and how you can fix it in the future. If it’s because the other person didn’t understand what you were trying to do, then it’s up to you to explain it to them. If they still don’t understand, it’s time to move on to the next person.

What Not to Do

There are a few things that you shouldn’t do when it comes to dealing with feedback. These are the things that will make you look bad, and make it harder for you to learn from the feedback that you do get.

1. Ignore the feedback

This is probably the most common thing that people do when they get negative or positive feedback. They either ignore it, or they try to argue with the person that gave them the feedback in an attempt to change their mind. The problem with this is that it doesn’t work, and it makes you look like a bad person. You can’t change someone’s mind by arguing with them, you can only change your own mind, and that’s what you should be focusing on. If the person doesn’t want to hear what you have to say, then that’s their problem, not yours. You shouldn’t waste your time trying to convince them that they’re wrong, because they’re not going to listen to you. Instead, you should focus on what you’re going to do to make sure that you never make the same mistake again.

2. Try to change the person’s mind

If you try to convince someone that what they’re saying is wrong, you’re probably going to end up looking like a fool. You should never try to change someone else’s mind, because it’s not your place to do so. It’s their job to convince you, not the other way around. If someone is telling you that you’re doing something wrong, then they’re probably right, so you should listen to what they have to tell you. If what they say makes sense to you, then great, but if not, then don’t worry about it. You don’t have to agree with someone just because they have a different opinion than you do. The only person that you should worry about changing their mind is yourself, and the only way to do that is by listening to the feedback you get, and learning from it.

3. Get defensive

You should never get defensive when someone gives you feedback, because that’s the quickest way to make yourself look bad. When you get defensive, you make it look like you’re trying to prove that what the person is saying isn’t true. You’re not, so don’t try to prove them wrong, just listen to them, and learn from their feedback. If their feedback makes sense, then learn from it and try to apply it to your business. If not, don’t waste any more of your time on it, because you’re only going to look bad by trying to change what they said. You need to focus on learning from your mistakes, and not on trying to defend yourself against people that are trying to help you.

4. Get angry

It’s easy to get angry when you’re getting feedback, especially if it’s negative, but you should never let that anger get the best of you. You have to learn to control your emotions, because if you can’t do that, then your business is going to suffer, and your customers are going to be the ones that suffer the most. When someone is giving you feedback about your business, they’re doing it because they care about you, and they want to see you succeed. They’re not trying to hurt you, they just want you to succeed, so if you let your emotions get in the way of that, you’ll be the one that will suffer. You’ve got to learn how to deal with negative feedback in a way that doesn’t hurt your business or your customers.

Summary

In this chapter, we talked about what negative feedback is, and why it’s so important. We also talked about how you should deal with it, so that you can make the most out of it. We talked about some of the things you should and shouldn’t be doing when you receive feedback, and we gave you some tips on how to avoid making the mistakes that we’ve talked about in this chapter. We hope that this chapter has helped you understand the importance of getting feedback from your customers, and has given you some ideas about how to go about getting it. Travel Journal: Ideas, Tips, and How To Write a Travel Diary

How To Write Travel Journals: 5 Tips To Get The Most Out Of Your Journaling

You don’t need to be traveling to Timbuktu to write a travel diary. Your writing can start with a family vacation or a weekend getaway. All you need is a destination and your holiday journal can begin!

1. Use your journal to plan your trip

Your trip journal can begin before your trip has even started. Use your journal to start planning the things you want to do. It can be anything from a cool restaurant you want to eat at, a hike you want to go on or different sights you want to see. Write down whatever is on your trip check-list, so you don’t forget it.

Once you know what you want to do, do some research and figure out the best way to do it. If you want to go see a special monument, figure out the best way to get there and put it in your journal. If you want to do some cool activities, write down the contact information of the people, places or tours that facilitate them. Your journal is also a great place to keep the contact information of your accommodations and transportation.

2. Write about what you imagine it will be like

Sometimes when you travel, your destination is wildly different than what you expected. Maybe you expected the local food to be bad and it turned out to be delicious. Maybe you imagined the town to be smaller than it actually is. Maybe you thought you would be more comfortable with the language. Whatever it is, think about writing it down before you arrive. It will be interesting to compare these predictions to what you actually experienced.

3. Write during your trip

It is always easier to remember things when they are fresh in your brain, so try and write as much as you can while traveling; every day if you can. Your journal entries don’t have to be long, but let them highlight what you feel was most important or exciting. How did you feel during your visit to the local market? What did you smell, taste and hear? Did you learn something new from the person you spoke to at the bar? Were you surprised by the clothes people were wearing? What was the view from the top of the mountain like? Before you go to bed, try and recall what you did that day, what you thought and how you felt. This will serve as a great way to remember more from your trip, but will also help you reflect and grow from what you encountered.

4. Add pictures to your journal

Even though your journal is meant for writing, pictures are still worth a thousand words. Combining pictures with your first-hand accounts of what they represent, or what happened when they were taken, will make for an even more comprehensive narrative of your travels. Don’t worry about glueing or taping anything either. Penzu allows you to upload pictures straight into your online travel journal, so you can keep your pictures and words connected and organized.

5. Write about your trip after you leave

It is important to reflect on your travels, so you can retain new understandings and apply them to future adventures. This is also a great way to learn about yourself, other people you may have travelled with and how you can grow. Step back from all the things you did and try to see the big picture. It may surprise you.

10 Travel Journal Ideas To Inspire You

The blank pages of your travel journal may not be serving as great inspiration, but your new trip should! Here are 10 travel journal ideas to get those creative juices flowing, kick-start your writing and help you get the most out of your travels. We hope these journal prompts help!

1. Why are you going?

Not every trip needs an explanation and not every vacation needs a justification. People travel for all sorts of different reasons or for no reason at all, but if your travel has purpose, write about it. Even if you’re traveling for the sake of it, that is a reason worth talking about too.

2. Write about your expectations.

As we mentioned above, expectations can wildly differ from reality, especially when going somewhere you’ve never been or going with someone you have never travelled with before. Jot down what you think the trip will be like, or hope it will be like.

3. What are you going to do?

Write about the things you want to do, the sights you want to see, the music you want to dance to, the food you want to taste. Writing it all down will get you excited and help you not to forget.

4. Write about the people.

Did you meet anyone new? Did you make a new friend? Were the locals welcoming? Did you learn something new from a stranger? Did you learn something new from a friend? People can really make a trip. Whether you came with them, or met them there, write about how the people you encountered affected your experience.

5. Write about the food.

Just because you call it your travel diary, doesn’t mean it can’t double as a food diary. If there are any foods you loved, dishes you hated or recipes you can’t live without, write them down to remember them all. Maybe some new fare you tried will influence your tastes when you return home.

6. The ups and the downs.

7. Write about yourself.

Reflect on the new experiences you had, what made you uncomfortable and what enticed you. Did you learn anything new about yourself on the trip? Did being somewhere else expose something you hadn’t seen in yourself before? Traveling can help people grow. Think about your journey and if it helped you grow in any way.

8. Write a travel guide.

9. What would you have changed?

Is there anything about the trip you would have changed? Is there anything else you wish you did? Anything you wish you didn’t do? Write about your travels and how you can improve them for the next time you go away.

10. Where do you want to go next?

How To Write An Effective Project Plan In 6 Simple Steps

Projects are a complicated business; there’s a lot of logistics, elements, and moving parts involved in the process. So, if you want your project to move forward successfully, you need to set yourself up for that success—and that means writing a project plan.

“A project plan is an action plan outlining how…[to] accomplish project goals,” says Jami Yazdani , certified Project Management Professional (PMP), project coach, and project management consultant, and founder of Yazdani Consulting and Facilitation . Project plans are like a map; they clearly outline how to get from where you are now (the beginning of the project) to where you want to go (the successful completion of the project)—and writing a project plan is that absolute must for any new, complex project you have in the pipeline.

Cash Flow Statement

Cash flow statement

When writing a business plan, you’ll be required to show Cash Flow Projections for each month over a period of one year as part of the Financial Plan of your startup. The Cash Flow Projections consists of three parts:

what cashflow includes

Cash Disbursements – This will take into account various expenses across categories. List out expenditures that you expect to pay in cash for each month over a period of one year.

Reconciliation of Cash Revenues to Cash Disbursements – Reconciliation here signifies adding the current month’s revenues and subtracting the current month’s disbursements. The result is then adjusted to the cash flow balance that is carried over to the next month.

Supply chain management in e‑commerce: Enabling B2B online revenue acceleration

customer-experience-touch-points

What is the difference between ecommerce and brick-and-mortar supply chains?

Let’s start with an obvious but important point: An ecommerce business is fundamentally different from brick-and-mortar (B&M), which means the supply chain that supports an ecommerce business is fundamentally different, too.

Some components of the supply chain are more important while others might not exist. For example, fulfillment centers (FC) are designed differently for ecommerce delivery, while distribution centers (DC) can be cut out entirely because there is no requirement to deliver goods to a storefront.

  • On average the number of SKUs for ecommerce businesses is higher than B&M models, which means more variability with processes and packaging.
  • Ecommerce inbound logistics focuses on optimizing allocation, whereas B&M inbound is about uniform distribution to DCs and optimizing delivery to stores (over/under stocking).
  • Ecommerce inbound logistics can be directly associated with a customer order. For example, Amazon’s “More on the way” message means any purchases of the out-of-stock item will be immediately shipped to the customer when available.
  • FC is focused on “single-piece flow” or streamlining picking to sorting to packaging an order.
  • Returns are a different experience—go to the store versus print a label and ship back—making reverse logistics very different.
  • Service Level Agreements (SLAs) matter more for ecommerce models, as the expectations are different for the movement of goods to consumers.
  • Lastly, it’s easier to understand demand for a product that is out of stock due to the digital nature of ecommerce stores, as opposed to an empty shelf in a physical store. This has major impacts on demand forecasting, purchase orders, and allocation.

Supply chain management’s biggest challenges — and opportunities

As digitization continues to cause disruptions and changes to the manufacturing industry status quo, supply chain management continues to get more complicated, and the relationships involved more strained. On an optimistic note, these challenges also provide manufacturers with their biggest opportunities for improvement.

Beyond cutting costs and simplifying fulfillment logistics, proper supply chain management presents significant opportunities: the expansion of your sales channels, particularly online, and improved customer relationships.

This is in line with manufacturing trends we’re noticing based on the latest data gathered by Sapio Research. Based on the data, around 50% of overall revenue for manufacturers is generated via online sales, while 42% of manufacturers have also noticed customer relationships improving as a result of investing in digital strategies. It is vital for manufacturers now more than ever to invest in digital solutions that optimize the supply chain in order to appeal to B2B buyers’ B2C shopping biases.

Ready for 2022?

While the expansion of your sales channels and increased overall revenue are already major benefits of a B2B e-commerce supply chain management solution, an e-commerce solution also provides you with the opportunity to prioritize your customer relationships.

For B2B organizations who are optimizing their supply chain management, e-commerce is the key to increasing sales and profit margins, while also improving customer relationships and business agility. Here’s what our research tells us:

Manufacturing & E-Commerce Benchmark Report 2021 - increased sales stat

These initiatives all go hand-in-hand. B2B e-commerce supply chain management should always start with an overview: Map out your supply chain network and gather as much data as possible about what your business is currently doing, what’s working, where you don’t have enough data or visibility and where your areas of opportunity are.

Supply Chain and Fulfillment assessment

Defining your strategies starts with an assessment of your Supply Chain and company fulfillment center. This assessment should include a warehouse operations audit or assessment, which will help you determine if your warehouse operation is as efficient as possible. Take into account quantitative and qualitative aspects of the warehouse operations, processes, and systems.

Each company’s Supply Chain and challenges are different, so strategies are not a one-size-fits-all game. Here are 10 major strategies we are consulting on with multichannel ecommerce, wholesalers and distributors. Only proper assessment and alignment to your company’s goals make it the strategy for you:

1. Make the inbound Supply Chain more efficient

Regardless if you’re an omnichannel retailer or a pure play ecommerce business, getting inbound products and materials on-time and as ordered is a major initiative in many companies. Your objective should be to receive the product so that it can flow through to put away or be cross docked to fill orders.

2. Lower shipping cost and delivery time

3. Increase capacity of the existing warehouse

Moving to a new center is not always the answer. Without the proper layout and design of your distribution center, no matter the square footage, you will face capacity issues, decreased productivity, and storage inadequacies. By addressing some basic principles, your company can delay a move to a new facility.

4. Increase paperwork accuracy and decrease processing time

One of the foundation technologies for warehouse systems and automation is implementing bar code technology. Barcodes let you track the “what,” “who,” and “when” for all activities within the warehouse’s four walls. Making barcode usage one of your first strategies will pay immediate and future dividends.

5. Manage labor more effectively

Most fulfillment centers and warehouses rely on manual labor, which is not cheap. If you can’t achieve a favorable return on investment in applying automation, managing labor more effectively should be a major strategic goal for your fulfillment center.

  1. Consider how changes in labor can lower cost per unit, line, order and carton shipped.
  2. Read our blog post on tips to manage labor more effectively and identify opportunities for your business to improve productivity.

6. Increase the number of picked orders per day

Order picking is one of the most important functions in the warehouse. Order accuracy and timely order fulfillment are keys to a successful customer experience. Picking and packing are generally the two areas where companies can also gain the most significant labor cost savings.

  1. For larger distribution centers, voice picking, pick-to-light (and put-to-light), picking modules and robotics automation may give a return on investment for many applications. But, they must be designed to your facility, products and material handling.
  2. Read our blog post on picking methods and pick the best options for your business.

7. Use current warehouse space more efficiently

Warehouses are expensive for companies to operate considering the total fulfillment costs of labor, occupancy, and storage and material handling assets. Often, warehouse space is 15 to 20% of the cost per order.

8. Reduce outbound shipping costs

This is an on-going initiative in every client’s business. The cost of outbound shipping exceeds the sum of all other fulfillment costs. It will continue to go up because of the lack of options.

  1. Look at your shipping data. What room is there for better negotiation of rates? Do you use rate shopping? Can an enterprise wide shipping system lower costs?
  2. Identify ways to address these 11 areas of savings resulting from using shipping systems.

9. Use of third party logistics versus internal fulfillment

Should your company continue to maintain and operate its own fulfillment facility? Can you achieve faster delivery with multiple distribution centers from a third-party logistics (3PL) provider? This strategy isn’t for every company, but many large companies make cost effective use of 3PL.

Let us help with 3PL vendor selection

10. Select and implement a new information systems

Whether it’s an ERP, OMS or WMS, this strategic objective is one that many companies should have. Many companies need new systems as a foundation for more advanced technologies and automation.

However, as you evaluate this strategic objective, be aware that studies show and our experience confirms, about 50% of the larger installs (those spending over 800 million) are not delivered on time or within budget. These projects sometimes put companies at risk because of the costs and implementation approaches.

Compared with children in the control groups, children in the music groups exhibited greater increases in full-scale IQ. The effect was relatively small, but it generalized across IQ subtests, index scores, and a standardized measure of academic achievement.

A growing body of research finds musical training gives students learning advantages in the classroom. Now a Northwestern University study finds musical training can benefit Grandma, too, by offsetting some of the deleterious effects of aging.

Indeed, in a 2007 study of humans, German researchers found that people learn vocabulary words 20 percent faster following exercise than they did before exercise, and that the rate of learning correlated directly with levels of BDNF.

In his study, Small put a group of volunteers on a three-month exercise regimen and then took pictures of their brains… What he saw was that the capillary volume in the memory area of the hippocampus increased by 30 percent, a truly remarkable change.

LinkedIn provides you with many different tools to help you easily land a job or even rank highly on the radar of a potential employer. In case you didn’t know, employers usually check out people on LinkedIn so they can see who can fill a vacancy even before it comes along. They then build a database of potential hires who they contact when the opening is available.

For you the current or future job seeker, things have been made relatively easy for you too. If you’re interested in using the network to its maximum, you’ll realize that there is so much that LinkedIn offers.

LinkedIn provides you with a means of uploading your resume into your profile. This comes in handy when making quick job applications as you don’t have to get to your email or mobile device to access it.

Since there are different ways of doing these things, we want to show you how to go about it. Each method has its own pros and cons. Whichever method you prefer, keep going with it. You can also change to a more convenient one depending on your specific needs.

Why do you need a good LinkedIn profile?

LinkedIn is the social media network for professionals. Recruiters go there to find potential candidates; employers are actively promoting their brands and it is by far the best social media platform for a job seeker.

Recruiters and hiring managers will source on a variety of platforms and social media and your activity on Facebook and Twitter will certainly carry some weight, but LinkedIn is where the job search social brand should live for any corporate job seeker.

It is true that historically manual professions such as plumbers or less senior roles such as telemarketers have not been so visible on LinkedIn, but today if you are a tradesman looking to increase your brand or an early career professional looking for education, LinkedIn is a treasure trove of opportunity for everyone.

One of the biggest mistakes for any beginner LinkedIn member is to create a minimal LinkedIn profile. The platform offers fantastic opportunities for connecting with others who could help you along your career journey, so make the very most of everything that is on offer. Be confident and let your experience shine.

How to Create a Powerful LinkedIn Profile: 10 Tips

When you hit that profile button and contemplate the messages that your LinkedIn profile is sending out to potential new employers or freelancing clients, are you happy with what you read?

1. Your LinkedIn profile photo and profile header image

Considering the use of headshots in resumes has been phased out in many countries (notably in the United States and Canada), the importance of a professional photo is often overlooked by job seekers.

Not everyone bothers creating a profile picture on a clean white background, and even fewer people care enough to order professional photos by a photographer. The latter may seem needlessly expensive, until you think about the investment value. In the long run, high quality “headshots” pay for themselves many times over in positive image gains.

Considering LinkedIn is a social network, your profile picture should work to your advantage. We’ll analyze that aspect in more detail later, but for now, make sure to choose and/or create your image carefully.

If you’re already using Resume.io’s resume builder, we have a nifty feature that can turn any photo into a professional one: the photo background change feature . You can easily take any photo that turned out well and switch out the background with the press of one button. There’s a good variety of backgrounds to choose from: abstract, office space, flat color and even natural backdrops for more exotic professions.

2. The LinkedIn headline is your elevator pitch

The LinkedIn headline is a very important element of the LinkedIn profile page, as it sets the tone for your entire LinkedIn account. It’s the first thing seen by prospective employers and recruiters after your profile photo.

The best LinkedIn profiles make the headline work for them, rather than just display their main job title. In a world where “standard” job descriptions mean less and less with each passing year, purposefully crafting a professional brand and a “custom title” or job description makes a lot of sense.

Your goal is to outline more than a generic job title for your current position — for instance, “Kate Wills, Accountant” or “Jim Gordon, Engineer” — and to make the recruiters who visit your page actually remember you among the crowd of candidates.

3. Your LinkedIn profile “about” summary section

In terms of vitally important (yet difficult to tackle) sections, the LinkedIn “about” section is a cornerstone of your LinkedIn profile. Similar to the profile in a traditional resume (sometimes called the summary or personal statement ), this offers the very best highlights of your candidature.

It should give a brief but vibrant glimpse into how you’ve grown as a professional over the years. Highlight your proudest achievements in the LinkedIn profile and emphasize your most unique or valuable skills.

The summary section on LinkedIn.com has many of the same characteristics as its counterpart in a traditional resume. You can check out our advice on building a fantastic summary in our comprehensive resume writing guide , or our summary blog, since most of the same principles apply. The main difference is you’re limited by 2,000 characters rather than 100 to 200 words.

The trick is to strike a balance between an engaging narrative and professional credentials. Bet too creative and you’ll come off as not taking your job seriously. Focus only on professional lingo, and even industry experts will get bored quickly and move on.

Keep in mind also that many recruiters and hiring managers aren’t as knowledgeable in technical fields as you might be if you’re an industry veteran. Be careful not to turn your LinkedIn profile summary into a jumble of cryptic abbreviations.

Space is precious here, and first impressions even more so. Make these 2,000 characters count. Make them capture the recruiter’s or prospective employer’s imagination, as much as they impress with career milestones.

It is important to note that only the first three lines of the LinkedIn “about” section will be visible initially, so make the beginning of your story as interesting as possible. The reader makes a conscious choice to click on the “see more” button, so choose your words carefully in the opening sentences.

4. Featured content adds depth to your story

The main benefit of LinkedIn is that it allows members to grow their professional networks, share their thoughts with others and learn from each other. Social update posts, long form blog content and video posts all form part of the LinkedIn professional tapestry.

Why You Should Put Your LinkedIn on Your Resume

These details can help set you apart from the competition and give you an edge. It helps you get around the one-page resume rule: you can tailor your resume to the job application, but also have all the other great reasons why you would be a great employee on your LinkedIn profile.

Additionally, it gives future interviewers more to work with when they’re interviewing you. If they see you’ve shared content from a thought-leader in your industry that they also know, it may lead to some more impactful interview questions. Rapport with your interviewer is never a bad thing.

So adding your LinkedIn URL to your resume is definitely a great idea for most job applicants. However, if you are applying for a federal job, make sure you are following the rules for what to include on application materials before sending a resume in with your LinkedIn URL.

When to Take Your LinkedIn Off of Your Resume

If you are new to the job hun after many years in the workforce, you may feel daunted by the task of making a “modern” resume. Job candidates often search for jobs completely online — rarely do job seekers print out their resumes on specialized paper and hand-deliver them to HR departments.

Landing your dream job is about more than hitting a few job boards and sending out some applications these days. The concept of online networking may seem confusing, but the use of LinkedIn to advance career networks can be an incredibly powerful tool.

Experienced job seekers and new seekers alike must utilize these online platforms and adding access to their LinkedIn profiles via their resumes can help them stay ahead of the pack and land more job offers.

While the actual adding of the URL on the resume is relatively easy (simply adding a hyperlink of your profile URL), there are a few tips outlined in this article to help make the profile a major asset to your resume, versus just some extra fluff.

So make sure your URL is clear, your profile is finished, and your URL is made into a hyperlink and you’ll seamlessly make a traditional resume-LinkedIn profile fusion that can impress recruiters and hiring managers.

Take advantage of having a resume on LinkedIn

There are many advantages of having a resume on LinkedIn. Uploading to Easy Apply simplifies the application process. Having your resume on LinkedIn also helps you gain exposure, letting recruiters and connections alike know you are job searching.

Once uploaded, LinkedIn also uses your resume to recommend jobs, help grow your network and personalize your feed. Here are a few other things to do to get the most out of LinkedIn:

1. Download the LinkedIn app. Treat it like any other social media app. Check it often, engage with others, follow potential employers to stay up to date on their happenings, and share articles that you think are interesting.

2. Have a current and professional profile picture. According to LinkedIn, users with profile pictures have 21 times more views and nine times more requests for connections than those without a picture[2]. When choosing a photo, keep in mind this is a professional platform.

Get noticed on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a networking platform with more than 800 million users [3]. It’s an excellent place to make connections and grow your network. There are several ways to make sure your profile stands out among the digital crowd. Here are a few:

Include relevant keywords

Having good keywords in both your profile and resume plays a big part in you showing up in searches made by recruiters. Titles, location, and skills weigh heavy here—although location-based keywords may become wider in range as remote work continues to grow in popularity. For example, it may not matter that you live in San Francisco, so USA will suffice.

One good way to choose keywords is to look at job listings that fit what you’re looking for and use the keywords from those listings in your profile. Many of the keywords you see in postings will also be what recruiters use when searching for candidates. Be wary of fluff or buzz words that sound interesting but are not good keywords. Examples of these would be words like rockstar and guru.

Use resume optimization tools

Many candidates submit job applications online, where a person does not read the application. Among Fortune 500 companies, 99 percent use AI-based applicant tracking systems to sort out the best, most qualified candidates, according to Jobscan [4].

Some services exist solely to help you optimize your resume keywords—Jobscan and Skill Syncer, to name two. These tools compare your resume to the description of the job you’re applying for. It calculates how well you match the job description and recommends keywords to add to your resume.

Align industry and location

When applying for jobs, it’s essential to ensure your location and industry align with the jobs you’re applying for. This means making sure your listed location aligns with where you’re hoping to find a job and not necessarily where you currently live or work. The same recommendation applies to the industry. It can be good to list the industry you’re aiming to work in rather than the industries you’ve worked in previously.

Why corporate branding?

“Take whiskey. Why do some people chose Jack Daniel’s, while others choose Grand Dad or Taylor? Have they tried all three and compared the taste? Don’t make me laugh. The reality is that these three brands have different images which appeal to different kinds of people. It isn’t the whiskey they choose, it’s the image. The brand image is 90 per cent of what the distiller has to sell.”

Online logo generators are personality killers

As technology and AI gets better and better, more services providing cheap, quick and automated branding tools come online. While these services can only make something similar to real brand identity, many self-starting entrepreneurs tend to neglect why corporate branding is important, seeking cheap, low-quality solutions that will inevitably damage them in the long run. When a young company enters the market and has a cheap, “standardized“ look, it immediately falls into the grey area of companies fighting over every client that’s left after the real brands.

This applies not only to online design generators but also to cheap self- or freelance-made logos for $30. And the reason for it is that this process doesn’t include basics like an analysis of competitors, target audience, concept creation or other fundamentals necessary for the high-standard identity creation. Cheap logos are made in a couple of hours from a brand strategy template and all of them look similar. It’s a well-known and often cited fact that a Nike logo cost $35. However, the year when it was first created is 1971. But that was just a logo, the company became a brand after having worked with an advertisement agency, which had really managed to convey the company’s main message to the consumer by making a lot of efforts including the creation of colourful, eye-catching video-commercials.

This begs a conclusion – one should never neglect the importance of getting a brand at an early stage of a company’s development to ensure the long-term prosperity of the business.

A brand is a fragile flower that needs to be maintained and treated well

These days, in the era of Information Technology, opinions and trends tend to change so quickly that every established brand has to maintain its identity up-to-date to stay competitive on the market. The ability to adapt in accordance with the market conditions is one of the most important tasks for any company. However, the difficulty is to keep the brand committed to its initial brand values and principles through the changes. Even if those changes are visual, adaptive to the modern design requirement or conceptual.

Changing the logos of famous brands over time

Another example is “Old Spice” that was forced to adapt to the change in its customer portrait – as it started to lose the younger customers because its branding appealed to the older segments of customers. As it began to rebrand, the company has launched an ad campaign which, with unique and reckless humour, has conveyed the message that using their product is a sign of leadership and confidence.

In both cases, the products stayed the same. The only thing that changed was branding and consequently, the customer’s perception of the company and its products. Thus, if your brand is slowing down its pace, perhaps it is out of date and needs some fresh air.

Top Advisors Share Business Goals for 2022

With a new year comes new possibilities, so for this week’s Big Q column, Barron’s Advisor asked wealth management leaders to describe their key business goals for 2022. Some, we found, have dramatic plans, like buying firms and hiring overseas staff. For others, 2022 will be about fine-tuning the client experience and crafting post-pandemic approaches to client engagement. All these advisors share the same, perennial goal, however: They want to grow.

Shannon Eusey, CEO, Beacon Pointe Advisors: With 31 offices across the country as the result of several acquisitions, one of our goals is to streamline processes. We’re also implementing better analytics tools across the organization so that our advisors have better access to client information. And as we continue to onboard employees—we went from 100 to north of 300 over the past couple years—we need to make sure we have the appropriate learning and development system in place. We’re looking at how we onboard not just employees, but new offices, so that they hit the ground running and are as productive as they can be when they join the organization.

Something else that’s very important to the organization is having an AI system, both for helping our existing clients and prospecting for new clients. We’re working on something internally that I think will be unique to the industry. I also want us to better showcase what we do as an organization. We already have a great focus on women, but we need to make sure the nation knows that we are the place where female clients can come to get advice, because we’ve got so many female advisors and so much in terms of female leadership. We also need to make sure the marketplace knows that we’ve got estate attorneys on staff. We’ve got folks that understand taxes on staff, we’ve got a whole suite of services that we think are really important for the marketplace to understand.

Why Do We Need Business Goals?

For starters, let us not forget those goals are completely subjective and best results are always seen when these goals are created with one’s capacities and resources in mind. However, factors like these should never be a barrier to massive dreams but instead, allow you to have realistic and achievable dreams.
With that being said, we shall now plunge into some Long-term business goal examples.

Ways to set Long-term Business Goals:

20 work and personal goals to achieve in 2022

So, what to do in 2022 after learning a lot after passing through a pandemic? What can better do for you is to set some goals for 2022 you want to achieve. You can make things right that you were doing wrong. You can do a favor for yourself by improving your habits that you think are not good, or you need to improve them. So, the majority of us can set some common 18 Work and Personal Goals to Achieve in 2022 and start Taking responsibility for our needs instead of blaming others.

The majority of people used to play the blame game. When they face failures or something bad, they do not look into their circle what they have been doing, and it is the result of their deeds, but they blame other people and circumstances. You need to observe yourself and find the scenarios where you feel you are doing so. In 2021, add it to the personal goals you want to achieve that you will take responsibility for the things you are doing and will not blame others.

1. Keeping the things organized.

When you are working without planning and organizing things, you will lack behind the goals you want to achieve. So, to make your goals successful and easy to achieve, you need to be organized by organizing things, time, and work.

You can use for quadrant to organize your daily tasks and mark them when you have achieved the short-term tasks, and keep looking for the completion of long-term tasks. 2022 can be more productive than the past years if you make your life organized starting from your bag, room, workplace, tasks, and meetings. You will see certain and prominent differences in your life if you adopt this habit.

2. Prioritizing the things

We do have many tasks to do daily if we feel our responsibility, and when we want to achieve something big, we need to be more proactive, open-minded, organized and follow the timeline. It is up to you how do you do. First, you need to make a list of the tasks you will be doing for achieving your goal, then arrange these tasks into four quadrants as per their nature of importance and time for completion.

Take a paper, make a quadrant and start putting the tasks from your daily to-dos list into the respective quadrant like quadrant one will be having the most urgent and important tasks, quadrant 2 important but not urgent tasks, quadrant 3 not important but urgent tasks, and quadrant four likely be having not important and not urgent tasks. This will help you to pick the priorities that you need to do with continuity to get some big goal but prioritizing should be the initial goal you need to achieve.

3. Becoming a change agent

Another thing you can add to your goals to achieve list that is to become a change agent, but the question is how? Is it easy to become a change? Sit and think for a while to know do you have the skills to bring change around you? The first property you should have in your personality if you want to bring change is to accept change. You can add this to your goals to achieve list as a big rock. To achieve this goal, you will be looking into your habits and modifying them to attain a leadership quality and get ready to bring change in society through your action because actions speak louder than words.

4. Making a timetable or Gantt chart

You want to achieve so many goals in 2021 and make something new this year that is not possible without setting a timetable, making tasks organized per week and month to have an estimation of frequency that how many times a particular you will be doing each week. Making a Gantt chart is also your goal for the year 2022.

It is not limited to only develop a format of Gantt chart but to follow it is a big task for you that you have to do consistently if you really want to achieve your big goals. You can keep track of your performance by keeping track of frequencies of each task you have set in the I Gantt chart. Here you will check whether you were doing good or lagging behind.

5. Creating your own weather instead of living others creation

Yeah! This is important too for keeping yourself positive instead of getting influenced by others and circumstances. A whole world was going through trauma after the spread of Covid-19, and some of the people left this world, not because of covid-19 but taking this situation on their heads and losing hope to survive as some of them were of the view the world is going to end. In such a situation, they were firm and looking for things to keep them busy, avoid this infection, keep doing work from home, and adopt some healthy and good habits.

These are the people who do not let the outer environment change their internal environment. They stayed positive, kept looking forward to the end of this pandemic, and made them busy through some activities. You can also do so by creating your own weather instead of staying depressed and tensed.
